On the one hand, I am racing to prepare in under two weeks to teach a class that is only tangentially in my subject area using a book I haven't read and assignments that I don't know if I have to create or not. Some questions I have are on the level of "Do we hold class on President's Day?" Others are more akin to "What in the name of all that is good and decent is this here 'Impromptu Speech' business, what should it be on, and what is the rationale for making students do it?"
On the other hand, 180 days x 5 years x 5 periods per day = 4500 times that I have spoken in front of the most demanding audience in the known universe make me a subject matter expert.
And on the third hand, if one doesn't keep an eye on the menorah, candles may plummet and scorch the table.
