How to make applesauce, for your viewing pleasure

Step 1: Get some apples. These are 2 of the four or so pounds of apples that I purchased at Open Produce in Hyde Park. They are Mcintosh Apples, and cost $0.75 a pound. I spent $3.40.

Step 2: Peel, core, and quarter the apples. I don't have a corer thing, so I just sliced the apple meat away in big chunks.

Step 3: Add 1/4 cup of brown sugar, 1/4 cup white sugar, 1 tsp salt, 4 Tbsp lemon juice, & a stick of cinnamon

Step 4: Add 1 cup water. Mix.

Step 5: Cover & boil. Lower heat and let simmer for 20 or 30 minutes.

Step 6: Remove from heat and mash it all up. Discard cinnamon stick.

Step 7: Eat. It goes well with latkes.
