Idol Thoughts v. At the Movies (with a Certified Psycho)

Now that Megan and Scott are gone, the stay/go decisions are a lot harder.

What does Quentin Tarantino know about music? Even after the promo film, I’m still not sure.

Also, I’m totally unimpressed with how AI has to cut out two of the judges in order to make time. Are you seriously telling me that they haven’t got a good sense of timing after 7 seasons of the show. Total fail.

Allison: I usually love her, but I wonder if that was the right song. It is a big song, and normally she fills the room, but that didn’t really do it. It was also really slow in the beginning.

Anoop: Woah, time warp. But that was right in his range and performed very well. Anoop put Bryan Adams on the soul train. Unbelievable.

Adam: This was the first week that I saw the second coming of Freddie Mercury that everyone else seems to see in Adam. That was an enjoyable song, that didn’t torture the ears or seem appropriate only to a musical. He’s going straight to Broadway in any case, but if his Idol treacle tune sounds more like this and less like his previous train wrecks, I won’t have to swear off the Top 40 stations for several months.

Matt: Another good performance, even if it was rough in patches. Dammit, I’m starting to like him.

NB: Bryan Adams is at home counting his money-“Thank you, Idol!”

Danny: Boy, we were 75% of the way through that song before it got interesting, weren’t we. Danny can sing, but shouldn’t be allowed to pick his own songs.

NB: Tarantino believes that human beings can develop devastating laser eye powers via music: y/n?

Kris: The beginning was rough, but he won me over by the end. Nice song, but probably not enough of a stand out performance to keep him out of the bottom 3.

Lil: I’ve hated this song ever since I had to plod through a miserable high school choir performance. I didn’t buy a gospel version of this song. Unfortunately, she has the same problem every week: no idea what her market niche is. I’m totally with Simon’s eye-roll.

Best tonight: Anoop, Allison, Adam (it’s a crazy world)
Worst tonight: Lil, Matt, Danny
Should go: Lil-I really hate to say it, because I like her, but she’s consistently failing to pull it together.
Will go: Allison or Anoop. I know, the world is so unfair.
