Winter 2008-9: the winter of board games, too much snow, watching endless episodes of Northern Exposure (I was investigating Alaskan geography and demographics on Wikipedia today), and obsessing about sewing. I haven't really talked about Northern Exposure, but it's great fun. My roommate has the entire series on DVD. It's like a sampling of (mostly) what was good from the 90's, plus magical realism and a good setting (really, the entire show is about setting). It's got a definite Twin Peaks-esque thing going on, too, which I think they reference in the second or third episode.
On Friday I started reading Revolution in the Head: The Beatles' Records and the Sixties by Ian Macdonald, and I'm nearly done now. Interesting, and also easy to skip over the parts I didn't care about (i.e. songs of theirs I hadn't heard). I like histories of the LSD-psychedelic period, from like '65 to '68. Ever since I read The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test last year, I've liked that period.
Because of thinking about clothes, I've been thinking about colours a lot. Lately I like these colours:
marigold
lilac/periwinkle
lemon yellow
green, green, always green -- mint, spring, kelly, lime
grey
cream
coral
pale greeny-blue (similar to mint)
grey-blue (dark and light)
herringbone (not a colour, but.)
I bought three bras in the last week, so now I can throw away my ancient, falling-apart hideous granny bras. Yay! Two of the ones I bought are Wonderbra. Those seem to fit me the best, and they also carry 34DD. Lots of brands don't. Often when I go to the Bay (my primary bra supplier), I end up trying everything they have in my size in the entire lingerie department, which usually amounts to 5 or 6 bras altogether. Oy gevalt. I also got one at La Senza, which carries a lot of my size, but their stuff is shoddily made and mostly impractical (to make a DD cup bra, you don't just take a B-cup and scale it accordingly: DD boobs are heavy and need lots of support).
I haven't been to the gym since December 23rd. I miss it! I will go tomorrow night (tonight Adam and I are going to his friend's place for dinner).
