Suiting up

Busted out the Amphibian Gear this morning: rain jacket, rain pants, rain booties, and old Chrome courier bag. Oh, Raincouver, you wet, dreary mess. I arrived dry and am feeling pretty accomplished. I'll need new brake pads soon because the rain (really the road-dirt) munches them up quick.

I also ordered these boots in lavender this morning because they're on sale for $28! They're currently $70 at Gravity Pope. I already have them in green but they're too small and give me blisters. I have a friend who tried them on once and they fit her, so I'll call her up and give them to her once I get the new ones. (I ordered the new ones a size up, obvs.)

I'm going to a lecture with Mav tomorrow at UBC. Stephen Pinker will be there, and even though my linguist friend Blue James says Pinker's a sellout, not a "real linguist", I still think it'll be interesting. I have absolutely no other weekend plans whatsoever, so if you know of anything exciting that I might like, do tell!

Oh, and I haven't even read a whole Borges story yet, and I'm already in love. "Tlön, Uqbar, Orbis Tertius" is totally brilliant. I'm not really down with carrying this entire enormous anthology around with me, though. Huge books are annoying. I'll switch it up for Ficciones at lunchtime providing the liberry has it.

I didn't watch the new ANTM yet, but I found out who gets cut by accident. And I discovered Fourfour's ANTM recaps, which are even better than the show itself. Holy shit, he's hilarious. And apparently also the owner of Winston the cat of Cuteoverload fame. Intercelebs, haha.
