Catch Up
Took Friday off to make my usual 4 day weekend.
Friday morning, overslept then the dryer wouldn't dry my clothes. Got on the road about the time I wanted to arrive in Vermont.
Fox looked like she was going to audition as Marlon Brando's under study. Lucky for us, she felt worse than she looked :-( Met the new house goat, Dancer. Mom refuses to aknowledge that he came from her, so he's in the house for hand feedings until the next group of kids are born or he's on solid food.
Planning only on Friday - I was tired and Fox was stoned out of her gourd. Had way too much fun watching Dancer dance around the house. He follows whomever is up and moving around, immitating a Bunny-Hop down the hallway following Laura.
Saturday - Begin the shearing. Mum's home, the heat has not yet begun, help is needed, and I'm there, Gwen and Laura are there, let's go.
5 Alpacas sheared - most of the girls then 3 jerkins traced and cut. Playtime with all 3 baby goats had. Snap, Lily and Dancer.
Sunday is for more shearing and running out to Roses to see friends. Except that Fox is beyond miserable. Then Nick the Alpaca decided he didn't want his teeth trimmed, bucked up off the floor, pulled a muscle in my shoulder and hyper extended both my wrists. Ice packs for the rest of the afternoon. With a 2.5 hour drive, no usable hands and a stoned Fox, Roses was off the plans.
4 more jerkins and vests traced and cut.
Monday - Chris comes to visit. We press him into service for shearing. Fidelio doesn't want to leave his pasture. He doesn't want to go into the barn. He cries through the entire process. Then refuses to get up. Doesn't want to leave the barn. Doesn't want to leave the pasture. Chris tries picking Fidelio up off the floor, but like any toddler throwing a tantrum, he refused to put his feet down. Fox and Chris end up carrying him out of the barn and pasture and around the corner before he finally acquiesced to going back to the boys yard.
Cut our another vest, packed up and headed to the 'rents.
Dinner with the 'rents then finally back to Speck-on-a-Map.
