26 Day Five

Dec 20, 2006 06:54

1,000 calories:

15 minutes interval jogging
15 minutes eliptical machine
15 minutes stationary bike
08 minutes interval jogging
26 minutes interval jogging

This is the morning segment:

I am not going to the gym this morning. My ankles are a little sore from all of the running I've been doing. I'll go to the gym this afternoon or tonight after work (the temp job I'm working at will probably end at 1pm today). Also, I'll probable switch from running to the elliptical machine for a while. Oh, and maybe throw in the stationary bicycle.

Of course I'll probably get on the treadclimber for a while since it's the easiest.

And so... I'll update this tonight.

So... whoa. Today was interestng. I was pretty tired during the 2nd half of the workout today.

The first 3 segments were all 200 calories each. Then I ran for 100, and then stopped for a minute and then I just got really tired and the last 300 really took me a long time to knock out. But I did it. It was... it was kinda rough actually. I was really hungry. But ya know, it felt really good once I finished.

I'm getting leaner. Not really losing much 'weight' but that's alright. I didn't think my muscle would just 'disappear' anyways. I ate pretty well today too. Mostly smoothies but for dinner I did have some fake chicken and lots of broccoli so I actually filled up. Good stuff.

I am beginning to really like running. Or at least jogging. :-) My shoes aren't the best, (um, I think i got them from Payless Shoes) but they're actually pretty cushioning and that's always nice. Plus ya know, I have to really get into this before I'll drop 80-$120 on some real running shoes. Yeah. Um. Hm. So it's been Five Days. My overall conditioning is a lot better than when I was just lifting weights. I can also see more definition in my back (a real trouble spot since I oddly carry a lot of fat back there.)

One thing I will say is an absolute. Absolutely get an mp3 player to run with. I'm borrowing my girlfriend's IPod right now and there is no way that I could do any of this without it. I tried to 'read' or to 'watch tv' that they have in the gym. No Go.

Because of the pace that I'm working out at (on a scale of 1-10 it's about a 7 most of the time), I have to actually concentrate on what I'm doing. So I can't lose focus like reading a book or even watching tv. I have to focus on breathing and moving and keeping up the pace. Especially on machines like the bicycle and the eliptical since they don't automatically move like the treadmill.

Anyways, that's 5,000 calories burned so far. Kinda cool when you add it up. Alright. Here we go... on to tomorrow.

Oh wait. While I actually have the time to elaborate. Let me discuss my eating habits for this 26 days.

I am avoiding going 'out' to eat because I am generally unable to control myself (even if I order a salad, the portion is usually too big for a small meal and I can't stop eating.)

At least 3 or more of my 6 meals a day are smoothies I make at home.
My smoothie recipe - 1 scoop protein power. 1/2 cup 2% milk. 1/2 banana. 4 ice cubes. = roughly 200 calories with something like 5 grams of carbs with 27 grams of protein. Better than ANY energy/protein bar and LOTS cheaper.

I very much limit my carbs after 6pm. (Again this is much easier since I'm not eating 'out' at all.)

I drink at least a gallon of water a day.

Game On.
