[When Sokka exits the smithy, he's not sure what to stare at more. The big swirly snow sculptures (which aren't actually sculptures) or... well, that dress she's wearing. That's a new one.]

[Katara looks up from finishing the detail work at one of the bases.]

Oh, hey Sokka.

Hey. [He glances up at the odd spiral things. They are impressive.]

Fancy. [From Sokka (to Katara anyway), this is high praise.]

[It is indeed. A quick smile.] Thanks.

[And she gets back to finishing the detailing, not ignoring him, but not providing any further detail either. ...except for the detail on the snow. Yes.]

[He watches with casual interest (in other words, not a whole lot). At length he does say:]

[The answer's the same, whether or not he's referring to the dress or the sculpture, but she's assuming it's the snow.]

[Weird. She glances back up at him.]

It came with the parka from the giant statue of Catherine. [She thought she'd told you. And you're commenting on it - why?

...oh don't tell her he forgot.]

[If she did? He wasn't paying attention. Power tools are a thousand times cooler than some dress.]

Oh. I didn't know you got that too. [Since this is the first time he's actually seen it and not just in a passing glance.]

[One hand smooths down her parka self-consciously.

He hadn't said anything - so maybe he had forgotten? Did she even want to bring it up?]

I guess it works as an almost-birthday kind of thing. [See? He remembered. He's just not making a big deal because your birthday was six months ago!] It's... nice. [What, you expect him to call it pretty? You're his sister, jeez.]

...but, no, Katara's not expecting that from you. She'd have to be getting married to hear that from you.

But she smiles all the same.]
