Oracle hired ex-HP-head Mark Hurd to be president of the company. This is not too surprising given that Ellison and Hurd are reported to be friends, and Ellison has publicly slammed Hurd's firing. To "pull a punch" is to hit at less than full strength, or idiomatically, to tell less than the brutal truth. The author pretty clearly meant that Mr. MacDonald isn't pulling punches. But even if the author had gotten the idiom right, the double negative is ( Read more... )
