Only 4 days left before the HUGE 3 days event "Battle of Groll" starts and today we had another huge event in our little city.
Tristan Hoffman, born and raised in Groenlo said his farwell today as a pro cycler. He became Dutch champion in 1992, "did" the Tour de France a few times and won many other races.
This year he decided to quit as a pro due to some injuries and what is the best place to say goodbye? His old city of course
The entire event took place within the ancient city (read within the moat) and several speed bumps and chicanes were removed especially for this event.
It was quite nice to see. Tristan rode ahead of the group quite some time and then he shook hands with all his cycling mates (the TOP of the Netherlands was in Groenlo today) He road another round and then he really quit.
I had never seen a pro cycling course before and it was a nice passtime of a Sunday afternoon.
Here are some pictures. If you click on the bold lines beneath the 3rd pictures, you go to more pictures.
