no one wants to fly with me!

I've had quite the flying experience lately! My flight back from Colorado was plagued with delays and I ended up having to stay overnight (on United's dime) in Chicago. The hotel just happened to be next door (quite literally) to the arena where the Grateful Dead had played that night, so my hotel was full of dead heads in various stages of intoxication. Had I not been so very grumpy, I might have found it funny. Then I went to Huntsville for Mother's Day weekend and on my flight to Memphis from HSV on my way home, the landing gear malfunctioned and we had to make an emergency landing back in HSV!! The landing went normally, but they called it an emergency landing because of the possibility of the landing gear collapsing or something. I had a terrible experience getting my flight rescheduled, but that's over now. Someone had lent me their copies of the Sookie Stackhouse books (the HBO show True Blood is based on these) and I ran through them during all my traveling troubles and delays. They are not high literature, but made for some brain candy and fast reads. They are fairly creative though!

I also read In the Woods while in HSV and enjoyed it. It's a very compelling mystery.

I'm glad to be settled for a few weeks before my next trip. I will be in South Dakota June 1-5 for a meeting. We are staying in Deadwood (!) and will be taking a trip to see Mount Rushmore.

Does anyone have any book recommendations? I read just about anything (no zombies) but am sort of between books at the moment.

books, journal
