49: do you like buying CDs and records? what was the last one you bought?
I've never been a big music person, as I've said before. I like music but it's not my "thing" so I appreciate it for what it is and don't think too much about it. I'm also from a hella small town (700 ppl) so it's not like I had access to all the latest sick beats. The first CD I ever owned was Boyz II Men "II". My neighbour also brought over a copy of the soundtrack for the Lion King because his family didn't have a CD player at that time and I did (hot shit, I was [no, I wasn't. Please forget I ever told such a blatant lie]).
So I guess the short answer would be sort of no, I don't like buying CDs and records because it's never been a big deal for me. Thusly, the last CD I bought was... a long time ago. I think it was the second album by The Cliks and the only reason why I bought it was because I wasn't sure I'd be able to score the store copy of it when I worked at my branch of the now-closed HMV.
When I cleaned out my car last week in anticipation of turning it in to the dealership I found the bag of stuff from my last car switch and all of the CDs I listened to in my first car were there, like The Cliks album, a Damien Rice one and a few Queer as Folk season soundtracks. Oh, and the Liz Phair album my bff gave me in college for my birthday, the one where she went 100% pop and released a really fun set of songs. That would have been from about 15 or more years ago. :|
Speaking of music I watched the YT videos of Harry Styles on Saturday Night Live last night and was really impressed with his music. I was a Directioner for about a day when I was trying to find a new fandom to roost in and decided One Direction was for me until the next day when I didn't care anymore. Their music was okay enough for me but didn't hook me and I let it go. I meant to check out his single when it dropped recently but forgot and I haven't been on Spotify much these past couple weeks. Hearing his voice from last night knocked me for a bit of a loop and I'm pretty excited to hear the full album when it comes out (it's not out yet, right?).
I also had a pretty fully day for me. I was waiting for D to let me know if we were going to record today or not because she's on vacation this week but didn't hear from her. It worked out great for me in the long run because I had a full-on meth moment and did a load of laundry, cooked a ham and potato scallop with broccoli for dinner for mom and I, and continued my spring clean in my area. I ended up moving the shelving around as I mentioned, thinned out my things, got a box of donations together, vacuumed up all the spiders (dead and alive)--oh, and dyed my hair.
I feel good about everything I did today and I feel like I've finally sated the organizational beast inside. It's been gnawing at me for a few months to come up with a new configuration around my desk area for better flow. Next week I'll go back to doing a lazy load of laundry.
