I just have a lot of feelings
• I might be coming down with a cold. Much like last week when I was diagnosed with Strep B (and just finished taking antibiotics for) I thought I'd just been snoring a lot last night. I woke up with a slightly sore throat and a constant need to clear my throat. But when mom got home she said her throat hurt and she was exhausted and I realized she got me sick. I'm hoping I can fight it, even though I don't really know why. It's not like I enjoy going to my job, LOL. We'll see how the weekend goes, I guess, but at this very moment I don't feel terrible, just a little "off".
• If you want a good cry, happy or sad, just check out The Dodo when you're tired and susceptible to feeling feelings. I've found that in the past year sometimes I have to actively decide not to read or listen to super sad things because it bothers me too much, mostly when it comes to animals. The happy ones make me cry because I can't understand how animals can have the ever-loving shit beat out of them in extreme circumstances and yet turn around and still trust the people who truly want to help them.
I read a story linked on my twitter today about a dog that fell through some ice on a river or lake and spent 40 minutes under. His owner fought for every one of those minutes to find the dog and bring him out, even when his friends were ready to give up and were only helping out of a sense of duty to the owner. But wouldn't you fucking know it, that dog found an air pocket and LIVED. He never gave up because animals don't have that sense about them. And a couple days later when he was warmed back up and rested it was like falling through the ice had never happened to him.
What did we do to deserve dogs, indeed.
• Blake Lively is adorable.
• Bridgit Mendler. YAAAAAAY. I'm LOVING this song, right from the get-go! I feel like this is the "electronic", manipulated vocal sound Britney's people were trying for on this new album of hers but skipped "a hint of" and went straight for "Mickey Mouse that bitch up". Granted, I haven't listened to all of Glory yet but out of all her promo singles so far I've only come around to liking "Make Me" and that's already getting old for me.
I'll listen to the whole album this weekend and see if her team just picked super shitty songs but I'm doubting it. Anyone else have any thoughts on it so far?
