Welcome to New Zealand!

Hello, lovely LJers!

I'm sorry this post is so tardy. The fact is, it takes some time to sort 1400 pictures. Yes, I'm afraid that's what MsMaggot and I took between us. But now, happily, they are all filed, and I am ready to take you on A Journey Through New Zealand. I hope you will find your patience rewarded.

I will certainly share with you the many Middle-earth sites, adventures, and re-enactments we were privileged to enjoy. But first, I'll like to give you a simple overview of this spectacular island country.

Welcome to New Zealand!

Warning to dial-up users: The following posts will have a lot of photos. I've resized them to be small, but you know how it goes. Good luck!

Peter Jackson picked a perfect place to film LOTR. This country is so striking, there is something new and exciting to be revealed around every corner. And this country has a lot of corners-- just ask anyone trying to travel in a straight line up the west coast.

In short, New Zealand has it all. Rugged mountain paths...

Roaring rivers...

Soothing forests...

Sheer cliffs...

Amazing swing bridges over rushing streams...

Accessible glaciers...

Seething thermal areas...

And spectacular waterfalls.

Of course, conditions may vary...

But the natives are friendly and sensitive to your needs...

They are happy to fill you in about their history and culture.

So bring the whole family!

The signs will tell you what to do.

Unwarned by any sign, Mariole puts an eye out...

Just follow the rules...

And you will have a great vacation!
