Saturday we went to a folk festival and spent most of the afternoon sipping soy lattes (and later beer), talking with friends, and basically relaxing. Later we decided to go home, let Corcodel out, then pick a movie and meet our friends again, probably at the theater. Of course, as soon as we reached our car, Ionel realized he had lost the car key. He has a bad habit of taking the car key off the bundle of keys and leaving the bundle in the car, while carrying the single key in his pants' pocket. At some point, the key must have dropped someplace leaving us in the hot sun, starring at the inside of our car. We called our friends on their cell phone, they came and got us, then drove us to their home and loaned us their car. On the way home a new realization dawned on us. How were we going to get into the house? We decided to try the basement doors and if those wouldn't open, then we'd break a window to get in. Once home, to Corcodel's dismay, we fiddled with the basement doors for an eternity. They wouldn't budge. So... we borrowed the neighbor's patio table, Ionel stood on it, and carefully he broke the kitchen window. Glass everywhere. Corcodel didn't know what to make of all this. Went inside, got the second set of car keys, spent a couple of hours waiting for me to finish and turn in my last assignment for the term, got back in the car, drove to our car's location, drove to our friends' house, returned their keys, sat around for another hour, then went home. No movie... which is just as well, since there's nothing worthy of $8 a person to see anyway.
Sunday my mom came to visit from Ohio.
Today, Ionel tried to get more of the shattered glass from our patio table off the patio. We forgot the umbrella open, a few days ago, and some time over night, the wind blew it into the woods, shattering the glass top of the table. We really must get all the tiny shards off the deck. Corcodel misses going out there to lie in the sun.
