5 Peaks challenge: Peak 2 -- Cowles Mountain

Cowles is the highest peak in San Diego, but I actually found it easier going than Fortuna, because the footing was more stable -- North Fortuna was all gravel, while the Cowles trail was mostly solid rock, except for one steep gravelly bit right near the summit. Also, there was more shade on the trail and I came better prepared, with lighter

I've been once. It was over 30 years ago, but I loved it and still have vivid memories of how awesome it was. And The Boy has never been.
