Iron Man 6. Yeah, I think I'm done with this series. Gillen spent the first five issues making Extremis be plodding and dull, and now he's doing it to the entire space opera genre. Dude, your protagonist is an engineering genius who just flew a robot suit into outer space, and you think the best way to open this story is to give us 13 out of 20 pages of "heh-heh, he's hooking up with a hot purple alien chick?" The 1950's called, they want their low-budget sci-fi back. And their sexual politics. No more for me.

Avengers 3-5 and New Avengers 2 an 3. There, that's more like it. Hickman's storylines here are almost a little too grand and epic for my tastes, but he doesn't lose sight of the characters and he's doing a good job juggling a huge cast. I wasn't sold on the first issue of NA, but the next two issues were really good. I'm not a big fan of the Illuminati line-up (seriously, could it possibly be any more of a sausage-fest?) but it's fun watching Steve Rogers try and deal with a team that respects him but doesn't view him as the shining light of everything that's true and good. I flinched at the mind-wipe in issue 3, though, because there's no way it's not going to and in a huge Steve vs. Tony blow-up. And their interactions in both these books have been so lovely!

Fearless Defenders 1. I actually don't know much about either Valkyrie or Misty Knight, but this issue was fun. Not crazy about the cheesecaky art, though.
