So, having crocheted
a Captain America last months, I naturally had to make an Iron Man to go with him. I mean, you can't leave Cap all said and lonely and Tony-less, right?
I tried my best to make it look as if he's actually wearing armor, with overlapping layers and stuff, rather than just red and yellow onesies.
The faceplate gave me a ridiculous amount of trouble. I tried at first to make it round or oval, but it just looked awful no matter how many times I redid it. Finally I went with this sorta-trapezoid shape, which is not at all accurate but at least looks kinda cute. And then I had to embroider the facial features, which.. well. You can see why my hobby is knitting/crocheting rather than embroidery.
On the other hand, I'm pretty happy with the shiny button I found to be the arc reactor.
Tony: I'm in my armor and I'm still shorter than you. This is so unfair.
Steve: Aw, you look cute.
Tony: This is going to make the hug-n-fly really awkward.
I almost certainly won't finish her before the movie comes out, but I think I'll make Black Widow next. Then I'll have a nice set of all my favorite Avengers.
