Grrr

I just 'inherited' a flower composition, and after spending a good slice of the afternoon dismounting it and repotting the two plants (I really hope I manage to save them) I'm just about ready to throttle the plant-monger (no, not a florist, those are supposed to know about plants, arent they?) who sold them to my mother-in-law.

A) Who thought it was a good idea to put a Moth Orchid and a Hoya Carnosa in the same pot?

B) Even more when the pot isn't even a proper pot with a drain-hole, but it's a fully closed cache-pot?

C)And it is an opaque cache-pot, so that the Moth Orchid's roots are in the dark while she's an epiphyte plant that has clorophyll in her roots and needs them exposed to light?

I spent a lot of time cutting and cleaning the orchid's roots, many of them had turned white and not a few were rotting already, I hope that now that she's in a proper transparent pot she'll recover, ditto for the Hoya who now is in a terracotta pot of her own and seems to have weathered the ordeal better.

it may sound silly to be so angry about the mistreatment of two house plants, but I hate it when living beings are treated with complete disregard for their needs just to make some money from them, no matter if they are relatively common house plants, 'basic level' pets (like goldfish, bettas or hamsters, for instance) or anything else.

vent, rant, flower
