life happens...

So I went to get an oil change, my tires rotated, and new wipers this morning, and it turns out I needed a new tire. Stupid Michigan pot holes! It had a little bubble/bulge in it, which apparently makes it a time bomb just waiting to burst. So I'd rather shell out the bucks now and get a new one, then have my tire explode in a couple weeks when I'm running late for this or that, and have to pay for not only a new tire, but a tow.

But the guy was really nice. He saw my Eastern sticker and asked what I study, and I told him music performance and that I play the organ. He said he had a buddy who played organ at a church in Ida across from a dairy farm. I was like, "Ray Smith?" and he was like, "You know him!?" Small world man! Anyway he combined a bajillion coupons for me that he wasn't supposed to do... so my wipers were completely free, I was already getting the free tire rotation from some special, and I got 15% off the new tire. All said, it was $150, which should have been the cost of the tire alone.

So ever since I noticed the lack of squirrels in my life at the otherwise squirrel-crazy EMU and wrote about it here, I've seen three squirrels in the last couple of days! Two were just walking along the side of 23 like it was their usual commute. I'm happy to see the squirrels are still around... I just wish they'd make more appearances because they generally cheer me up and campus is empty and lifeless without them.

I went to the gym today for the first time in a week and it was amazing! I need to be more vigilant about going. It's just hard with you know, life, happening 24/7.

Today is a busy day, so I should go! After eating the undoubtedly delicious grilled cheese sandwich that I'm about to make, I'm going to practice at my Saline organ, then go straight from there to occupational therapy in Ann Arbor, then go straight from there to Hill auditorium to meet SME and practice. Speaking of Hill, another high school orchestra director (Pioneer) e-mailed me today about playing organ at the same concert I'm playing for Huron HS at. They want to pay me, and since I'm already going to be there and I love to do it, I'm totally game. I'm just not sure about the piece, so I'm waiting to hear back from SME about it - if he thinks it's something I have time to work on, because the concert is Feb. 19. I hope I can do it!
