I'm updating from Bobby's brand new MacBook! Not one of those nasty white ones either - it's the new silver aluminum body kind. He got a $2000 grant from EMU (I'm so proud of him) and with his classes and what he's going to be doing after graduation, it really made sense for him to get one. He hardly ever gets to treat himself to anything and he works so hard and never complains, so I'm very happy for him - and for me, who gets to use it too.

So I still have a sore/scratchy throat and this awesome phlegm thing going on. I feel absolutely fine, but it's still not wise for me to expose Pastor Kurt to whatever it is that I've been blowing out my nose several times a day. The original plan for this morning was to go to the gym, and then go see Kurt. Instead, I decided to sleep in because I've been up before the sun everyday for about two solid weeks, and it was really nice to wake up to sunshine on the bed (where kitty was of course lounging) and the sound of birds chirping.

Speaking of birds, where do the squirrels go in the winter? I know they don't hibernate, right? Or maybe they do and I'm just crazy. But I thought that's why they bury nuts all autumn long... so that they have food to eat in the winter.

I promised myself I'd be productive today. Food and shower are first, then I need to practice choral conducting. I don't think I like Trey Jacobs yet. Though sometimes it takes me a while to warm up to people so we'll see. He doesn't seem super organized in this class, and as a student paying lots of money and expecting to learn, that makes me angry. He also seems to extremely favor the vocal students. There are maybe eight people in this class, five of which he already knows, and I don't think he has bothered to learn the rest of our names. He was out of town yesterday so Zastoupil taught the class, and when you juxtapose the two as professors, there is just no comparison. JZ is an amazing instructor. I had to accompany on the piano (another thing that bothers me about Jacobs) so I was mostly observing JZ teach, and seriously - he treats everyone equally and like each of us has the ability to be incredible. It's really inspiring to watch him work with students one-on-one like that. You can tell he genuinely cares and wants the best for everyone. As for Jacobs, it's almost as though he has already picked which students to give up on... one of which is me because I definitely haven't impressed him with my mad conducting skills. Which is why I'm about to stop writing this and go practice in front of a mirror.
