My new apartment is amazing.
We didn't even realize half the crap we were putting up with until we got out.
I love that my stuff is already starting to smell like me again... like a non-smoking, daily-showering, CLEAN person who takes care of their stuff and always washes their clothes.
When you vacuum... you can actually tell that the carpet gets cleaner.
The water coming out of the sink in the kitchen doesn't smell like sewage.
My key doesn't get stuck in the door.
I haven't heard a single car horn beep in the parking lot. No yelling either. Actually, the silence is deafening in the most wonderful way.
But you can hear the heater when it comes on... which we get to control and it works. Much like the light in the refrigerator, and the light in the oven... and the clock and timer on the oven. And the vent in the bathroom.
The kitchen is by far my most favorite part. It's bright and clean and fully functioning and doesn't feel like government subsidized housing.
I'm sorry I can't shut up about all this. But we really deserve it after living where we did for a year and a half. And whatever happens... when we get sued for breaking our old lease... when we get stuck in traffic or can't find parking at EMU... I don't care. It was so worth it.
I can invite people over now and not be embarrassed.

My brother's coming home on Monday. Bobby's picking him up in Ann Arbor and he's staying with us until Christmas Eve. I'm really looking forward to it.
