The smoke has been awful the past two days. These people have parties every night, and it's like people just come over and SMOKE. Some of their visitors like to smoke in the hallway too, which is cute, especially considering they like to talk very loudly on their phone whilst doing it. We can't escape it! I cannot express in words how happy I am to be getting away from this place in less than 24 hours. What scares me the most is that by being in here all the time and breathing it in, we don't even know how bad it is until we leave and smell our clothes. We did laundry this weekend in Ida and everything smelled like not just cigarette smoke, but weed. I hate to think that people might smell me and think I'm some huge stoner.

The packing is almost complete. My mom drove here through the blizzard last night to help me pack up the kitchen... she was able to do in two hours what surely would have taken me all night.

Basically all that's going to be left for tomorrow morning is the bed. My dad is picking up the uhaul at 7 a.m. so it will be an early morning and a long day.

Today we're going to do the final inspection on the new place and sign the lease. I'm so excited! :)

Last rehearsal tonight with my bell choir before Christmas Eve. I hope everything comes together. I like Christmas Eve because my choir director goes to Tennessee every year to be with her daughter, so I get to be in charge of the senior choir too. Last year the idea of that scared me silly, but this year - after finally finding my mojo and figuring out how to be more organized with rehearsals and planning and being in charge of a group of people who are all three times my age - I feel like I can totally handle more responsibilities. Maybe I'll work at some huge church some day with 69 choirs.

Speaking of responsibilities, I met with Dr. Prince and he came up with a perfect solution for my 1 last ensemble credit that I got screwed out of with Collegium being canceled. He asked about my independent study (which was originally fulfilling just 2 ensemble requirements) and he said it sounded like a large enough project to constitute 3 credits. So after next semester when I put on my huge hymn festival with a choir and a brass ensemble in Pease auditorium, my ensemble requirements will be complete! It's weird to be so close to being done.

Next time I post I'll be sitting in my sweet new crib in Saline!
