Request for Assistance
Right... this ones for the techies out there.
Laptop (Acer, Travelmate 8100, out of warranty) started making horrible noise from what appears to be the fan. Primary exhaust port is heating up greatly, to the point that the whole computer gets too hot within 10 minutes and I shut it down as I'm not comfortable with letting it run.
So... Fan dying? How do I get this fixed? Just hunt down a repair place? I assume it needs to get fixed... I can set the thing to run cool, but... can't turn the fan off and I think the fan itself might be generating heat at this stage.
So... any particular recommendations, and does anyone know of good/cheap (and, unfortunately fast) laptop repair either in Boston or NYC or Ithaca?
