Tired, But Still Kicking

There are times that I just want to scream "I quit."

But then I think of how bad it could be or how messed up things were, and I can shrug it off.

When complaining (whining really :P) about hard things are, I try reminding myself that there are people worse off than me - women sick in Africa, kids hungry in third world countries, teens giving up because of the hate they face everyday. And that, in truth, I've probably gone through far harder issues.

At the moment, they may have me pissed, but someday, I'll probably be shaking my head over the theatrics. Yes, they may seem insurmountable now, but my problems are really not that epic or dramatic in the bigger scheme of things.Work through it  & come out fighting til it's alright to breathe easy.

As the quote says, this pain will be useful one day. I find that more often that not, it's true. It's like a the problems you've gotten over are a stockpile of resources.

When uncertain, you pick through the stockpile & find the right push in one direction or another. Lessons learned from mistakes or a would-be disaster working out. When sick of society's dictates, look back and pick out a memory of doing whatever it is you want, scoffing the norms, and coming out unscathed despite the nonconformity.

When unsuccessful, take a page out of whatever journal you have in your mind and think about failures you've been through. The solutions back then may still apply now. When downtrodden, you realize that you've been through this or that problem before, and hey, have survived it with all senses (and your sanity) intact.

When frustrated, you remember that some things wouldn't be what they are had you given up. What you've stood up for, the things - small or big - that you've helped change are the mementos you'll have when times get get tough. It was difficult, but well worth it.

And when you're happy, take a minute to remember about how you got where you are and the people who helped you get there.

Wins, fails, endless work, cringes, high fives, tiring activities, triumphs, laughs, tedious hours, sweat, tears, late nights cramming, hugs, encouragement, determination - yes, life as I've experienced it is a reference of sorts I'll still be using when I'm 80.
