Shooting stars, all too reminiscent of you, I try to look away, but I can’t. I try to forget you, but I can’t.
Everything I do as of late, reminds me of you, it reminds me of how things used to be. I’d like to move on with my life, but you’re always on my mind, my heart doesn’t want to let go.
I was in shock for days; I didn’t want to believe that you were gone. I held you in my arms as you took your last breaths. ‘I can see beautiful flowers and shining stars.’ You whispered. I held back tears as I hugged you tighter.
‘Those flowers are blooming for you and those stars are shining for you.’ I replied to you. You smiled at me, your last smile. It remained on your lips until you were fully gone.
I cried, I cried harder than I’ve ever cried. I didn’t want to let go, I didn’t want to forget all the memories we had, every single moment I shared with you, even the bad ones, were beautiful ones.
You were my everything, I went to you for everything, I gave my everything to you. Every ounce of love I could ever give another human, I gave to you.
It’s been a year now since you left me, since you’re no longer in my arms. I miss you with everything I am, I miss you with everything I’ll ever be.
Every time I look out the window all I see is shooting stars, and every time, I think of you.
