Within limited time

There were one more seminar today. I mean the seminar from the course that I'm taking in LiU now. One more seminar usually means one more presentation per group. In the assignment it was mentioned 7-minute presentation. The teacher before start of the seminar session decreased time till 5 minutes per group.
Surprisingly or not nobody was affected by the request. It looked like everybody ignored it and just continued their way of presentation prepared in advance or not prepared in advance but just performed as they could. It was not 5 minutes and not even 7 in all the cases including ours. But nobody stopped anybody. Teacher continued to listen to presenters carefully, the students continued to do their stuff or listen. Time run away quickly not leaving a possibility for discussion :-(
And this is not the first case. It happened before in Vaasa. In my system of understanding I can find only one explanation for letting people talk this is respect to people. But at the same time this is disrespect to audience that is planned to listen to every presentation for only 5 or 7 or whatever scheduled minutes. I may sound too strict but we live in real world where time is scarce. I think this is a good habit to manage own time and respect time of others.
