Drunk people are fun

I really enjoy living in a secure-access building and being on a non ground level floor. Lakeshia and I sat out on the balcony for prolly 3 hours or so watching people stumble out of the apt. complex across the way. You can actually see a pic of it at http://spaces.msn.com/members/beanstalk82 under my "These don't go anywhere else" heading and its the vertical rainbow picture. I know, not very exciting. But it kinda gives a perspective of where we were in relation to all of the action.
Anywho, I wandered out there since I'm a nosy person w/out much of a life of my own. I was planning on going out except that my stomach had been pretty uneasy most of the day and didn't want to add beer and piss it off s'more. But I digress (again). The people over there are typically pretty loud and Lakeshia said they had a deejay earlier, but it was mostly a bunch of people stumbling around and yelling. Then a particular couple caught our eyes and ears. This Eminem-wanna-be was yelling at someone "You know where I be! Come get me, dawg!" We started laughing, but not for long. This chick we assumed was his girlfriend was kinda hanging on him then he hauled off and hit her. We heard him yell at her to get up off the ground and walk. She was actually stupid enough to follow him for a bit. He wandered away for a bit, some other bigger dude was trying to keep them separate. About 3 or 4 people showed up with black "security" t-shirts showed up followed by a police cruiser. Two cruisers eventually showed up again, one let mini-E out of the back, the other had the girlfriend. We think they wrote her some sort of citation. They stood around trying to decide what to do, then drove away. The security people proceeded to yell at some of the people telling them "The party's over, either leave or get back in you goddamn apartments!" The abuser was sitting on the curb across the street for a bit, then slowly started to wander back to the parking lot of the building. He sat in someone's patio chair for a bit till someone told him to get out of it. He started leaning on someone's random car and one of the supposed security guys came over to talk to him. He yelled at the security guy, then someone else came by and punched him in the head. It made an awful "crack" noise. I had grabbed my phone earlier, so I called 911. This time 4 cruisers showed up, but they still didn't take anyone away. The cops finally left after yelling at someone "We don't want to be back here again." Lakeshia and I started to wonder if the guy was homeless since he wouldn't friggin' leave! The security people continued to yell idle threats to the tenants/drunk beer freeloaders and we continued to thank our good fortune that we don't live in that building. We would probably get ourselves in trouble for yelling at other tenants to STFU all the damn time.

With all the events from this evening, I almost have to change my original view on the keg ordinance thing which the Daily has been trying to cover http://www.iowastatedaily.com/vnews/display.v/ART/2005/09/22/433209e44b370 As I watched 2 guys haul a new keg up the stairs as the cops were standing around the first time, I wondered if it was kind of the city's duty to do what they can to curb this kind of activity. I know that if people want to drink badly enough, they'll buy cases of beer instead. But if people can't learn to control themselves, do they have any right to bitch when someone wants to make life easier for those who do have self-control (or lack of desire to drink)? We were told that this is a pretty quiet area, but people in that building have loud parties every few weeks. That property isn't owned by our landlord, so its not like we can complain to him. Its just frustrating. It makes me feel like an old lady being the one to be bothered by them and calling the cops on them.

So the most interesting thing I have to post about is some other people's fight since I don't think anyone wants to read about me being sick today (although I guess its technically yesterday).

bitching, drunk people, sick, lakeshia
