What a very pleasant weekend. I got to see several friends, spend time with my husband and son together and individually, clean some house, sew, knit, and tell
pallasathene82 that she is ready to get her driver's license.
I bought a copy of the original Broadway cast recording of Spamalot, just because I couldn't pass it up. Our dining-room table gave up being a table and is now essentially firewood with some metal in it. I got to put together my mom's story a bit better in my own head, and I made a (knee-length) 10-gore dress! Well, it doesn't have sleeves, and it did turn out to be about 8 inches too big(!), but it's easy to see how all of those fixes will happen.
File under 'bizarre circumstances' - we have a fairly active Neighbourhood Watch program going on, but in spite of that last week one of the houses around the corner got broken in to. Word was duly sent around. Saturday morning I was walking Astrid (cops have GOT to love dogwalkers) and this skanky old pickup truck drove by. I had never seen it before, so it stuck in my head. It looked kind of like a work truck, but not exactly. I got around the block (if you know my neighbourhood, you know it's shaped like an 8 - I've been walking figure-8s to maximize my walking) and I could see this skanky pickup-truck parked just in front of the house that had been broken in to. As soon as they saw me, they started their engine and drove past me, out of the neighbourhood. Several things about this truck and its people struck me as peculiar, so I noted its license plate number and told the watch list and the local police (Cop-shop, in the mall, they just happened to be there). I also told the owner of that house everything I had seen the next day. Creepy.
We played a fair amount of Wii Sports this weekend, too, and cleaned house, and just generally hung out. Very pleasant.
