Spring! And health!

Happy spring, easter, oestre, narwaz, equinox, dameroxanne's birthday, etc. and so on.

Nate got really in to the Easter Egg thing this year. We went to a lovely kids' party on Saturday and he got to participate in an easter egg hunt. Then after we got home, he hid the eggs and made us find them, then made us hide them and let him find them, repeat until the sun went down and we were all tired. Then on Sunday I had hid his eggs with new candy (and a few eggs from previous years) and we did the whole thing again several times. He gets an easter-egg hunt at school today, too. He also got a potted flower from his grandma, and was absolutely delighted with it (go figure. The train-nut 4-year-old boy loves pink flowers).

I put the icon of my roof up for this post because I managed to get to working on one of the things that has been bugging me since the roof was done a year and a half ago - the builders didn't paint the little bit of facing/soffit on the front of the porch roof, so we've had this bare wood up there this whole time. So yesterday, I took the two palm sanders and lots of sandpaper (50, 60, and 220 grits) up and down the ladders and sanded, wiped with a damp cloth, sanded again, wiped again, and then put on the first layer of Killz undercoating. By then it needed an hour to dry and we had to get dinner and go to the grocery store, so I was done for the day, but at least I got the first layer on. It looks sooooo much better. I figure I went up and down the ladders around 8 times, which isn't a LOT, but it was enough to get me sore and tired. So I'm happily achy today. I had enough energy to work on this project, and enough energy to do other things afterward - i.e. grocery shopping, bathe kid, and get him to bed. So even though I still have a bit of a cough from the bronchitis, I'm feeling much better. The knee is more or less OK even after all of the laddering, and I even walked from the bus this morning (a sure indicator of my health status).
