So, I'm in Saginaw, helping my mom move into her new condo. It's slow going, but this week has been a flurry of activity, with monday having the professional movers drag the heavy stuff from the storage place and her old condo. The previous week was me dragging all the small stuff out of the storage unit and ferrying it back to the new condo in my lil' Saturn. Lotsa trips, but it kept me busy.
Went to a MedExpress a few weeks ago, had a doctor look at my hip. She used to teach physical education, so it was perfect. I got a full examination of the hip and an X-ray (got to take it home on CD, woot) for under $100, without insurance, which is great. She thought (as I did) that it might have been a stress fracture, but the x-ray shows only strong, healthy bone, so it's likely a torn ligament or muscle in the upper leg. She showed me the basic stretches she wanted me to do, put me on ibuprofin (high dosage), and had me start walking again immediately. Weather permitting, I've been walking and cycling over the last few weeks. Down to 213# today, and 36" jeans are starting to be loose. I've been wearing 38" for a while now, with 40" in dress pants so I can tuck everything in comfortably. Luckily I still have 4 pairs of 36-sized jeans in storage.
As is true with all cable installations, it took all day yesterday to get things done. We went with an all-in-one package with the sinking ship that is Charter, phone/TV/internet. The phone guys were on time, having it all installed before 10AM, but the internet/TV guy didn't show up until 4:30PM. The original installation window for everything was supposed to be 8 to 10AM, so I got the waste the lovliest day this week waiting for them. Got a lot of unpacking done in the process, 'tho.
I'd planned on doing a test run next week, but it looks to be raining for the foreseeable future. Ah well. I'm not sure when I'll be in Kalamazoo next, but let me know if something is going on. My mailing address is at my sister's, and between picking up the mail and seeing my recruiter infrequently, I'm around.
