As I've mentioned in a previous post, I have a list of "good" uses of RFID versus "bad" uses of RFID. (One of my math profs characterizes these descriptions as "primitive and pseudomoralistic". Despite their lack of finesse, they seem to get the point across.)
In my book, putting RFID into passports is a "bad" use. One of the worst, in fact. RFID is not secure, and it's just too damned easy to steal someone's personal info.
However, I guess that's moot point now. According to
this recent post in Effect Measure, Homeland Security is pretty much handing out this info to anyone who is standing in line in order to make a quick buck.
I cannot believe there are people that stupid on the planet...but apparently there are, and they are the ones making important decisions about our government.
