Ted Kennedy

I realized there are things I have in common with him:

- We were both born in the same hospital, St. Margaret's in Dorchester (no longer there, also birthplace of the Wahlbergs)

- He was one of nine, five girls, four boys.  My father was also one of nine, five girls, four boys as well.   The second to last sibling to die was my Dad's brother Nick, he died on August 25th, same as Ted. There was also only one sibling (a female as well) left at that time, my Aunt Katie, who died about 8 months later.

(We also had a tough time our first couple of years of college, but that's another story.)

Interesting, huh?

Also my mother shared a couple of things, she met him twice, the first time was when she and her boyfriend at the time (she was a teenager) were going into Bradlees in Dorchester because he needed more paint to paint a room in her father's house. Ted was outside, campaigning for the senate. Her boyfriend said to him "I'd shake your hand but I have paint on my hands." Ted was like "That's OK, just remember me on voting day." A couple of months later they ran into him again outside the old Kelly's Landing restaurant in South Boston. This time her boyfriend said "I can shake your hand now." Ted was like "That's right, last time you were going into Bradlees to get more paint." They both then shook his hand.  Ironic isn't it, that someone who had such a great memory died from a brain tumor.

Also, one time he walked in the St. Paddy's Day parade in Southie and him and his team needed to use the restroom. They went at my mother's cousins' house.  He later sent a thank you note to them for this.

Just thought I'd share on a very thoughtful man.
