Lookee what I'm getting!
I'm starting to suspect that the reason Malcolm Gladwell is such a bad-ass is that he's so darned readable, least ways, by comparison to his contemporaries. It's all well and good to have a dazzling topic, but it's way, way better if your dazzling topic is backed up by user-friendly prose.
I bought this book on tape, The Stuff of Thought: Language As a Window Into Human Nature and it is so dry and boring. I thought it was going to be all sexy and exciting, like a Stephen King novel, except without as much killing and more semantic exploration of the use of verbs. Unfortunately, I was disappointed.
Also, since the author of the language book is a professor at MIT, and since the $100 laptop has turned out to fall so short of the mark, MIT is officially on notice as being over-rated. Do you hear that, MIT? You've been warned.
