Trip Leg 3 Part 1 (Ireland) is done. Another whilrwind car tour. I find them pretty exhausting. Especially when you don't start looking for accomodation until 8pm. We tried to make a rule that it had to be 6pm, and always regretted it when we ignored the rule.
I didn't send a single postcard from the country. There was no shopping of any sort apart from food so no chance to buy one (okay, that's a lie, we went to a small street market in Dublin and browsed a little).
I hardly had a moment to check email let alone journal (here or by hand).

But we saw a lot (Book of Kells, Belfast, Bushmill's, Hill of Tara, Aran Island, Cliffs of Moher, Wicklow Mtns, Queen Mebh's lake, Galway, etc.), got lost as planned, made mistakes, didn't crash the car or even damage it in the slightest. The highlights were by far: the Giant's Causeway where I bounced around like Tiggr from pillar to pillar; seeing the world's largest stalactite; and sitting in a pub in Doolin with two men from Norway who knew what they were talking about when it came to Irish music, listening to one of the country's best Irish pipe players, and catching some spontaneous Irish dancing.
Now we're in Berlin for a few days and I've escaped, missing out on some sleep, so as not to waste the day.
Last night we tried to find a dance club chosen from the guidebook but were unsuccessful. It was past midnight (the doors don't even open til then) and alternating between drizzle and pouring. The club appeared to be a 15 minute walk, so it didn't even occur to call a taxi. We ran almost the whole way there (~20 minutes) and a hard time finding the club tucked in some building complex. And then the people in front of us were turned away. Realizing we wouldn't be let in to any club in our state, we ran back, puddle jumping, laughing and completely soaked.

If we try to go again, we might go to bed early and wake up at 4am instead of staying up late. I'll probably have more energy that way. Silly Berliners and their party hours. They'd get along with Icelanders.
