An entry written bit by bit in between watching some of the pairs teams and baking a loaf of sourdough bread (more on that in an hour when it comes out of the oven).
The Chinese teams all have a magic quality about them in that they never just grab their legs to hold them in any position, instead they effortlessly and gracefully place a hand and float them into place. This doesn't come across so well on my screen.
I was incredibly fortunate enough to watch several of the teams practice and on more than one occasion. Thus far, every single team but one has vastly outperformed their practice runs. The crowd in the coliseum is getting a good show tonight. So wonderful.
Langlois and Hay did so well. They can't be anything but proud.
The Japanese-Russian team did very well too but Kawaguchi (Kavaguti) looked so unimpressed. I find that a little upsetting.
Davison and Bryce were mid-distance-shots for podium anyway, and skated similar to practice but were a little shaky at the end. The Chinese teams are just so much stronger and just as important, they are consistent. And Huge.
The female commentator on CTV is...not helpful. Pelletier is walking a fine line between obnoxious and colour. The interviewer is also...not helpful.
I like the way they've changed the skating order. Too bad luck of the draw had most of the best teams at the end. Or maybe it is better that way.
Hmmm...Still haven't seen what the flower girl costumes look like, but aren't the boards pretty!?! So clean.
Lastly, props to the not-so-new marking system.
Til next next time!
