It's been almost two weeks since our washer broke down. Today, we got a new one. Our landlord bought a new one for us, and it was delivered today. Thank God. I put a load of towels in immediately -- not wanting to use our clothes as the "test run" of the thing. It has a somewhat smaller capacity, I think, than our old washer, but how can I complain when it's free? Free is good.
Yesterday was Aric's birthday party. Several people flaked out on it. Only Roman, Wendy, their kids, and Zach and Beth came -- out of a guest list that included 13 people (not including us). I know that was really disappointing for Aric. But we did have a good time with the people who made it. Roman and Wendy gave us two movie passes and a promise to baby sit, so that's really awesome. I think we both would love to have a night out (especially one we don't have to pay for!). The cake was a big hit. None of it was left, even though there was a small crowd. Roman and Wendy (much to Roman's chagrin) took home about a quarter of the cake. (Roman ate two big pieces and loved it, but didn't want any more temptation, I think.) I thought it was quite good. I do love that mocha frosting. Anything's better with coffee!
Today, I've been very tired. I had a hard time sleeping last night. (could coffee frosting be the culprit?) Will has been so sweet and smiley today, but he's refused to take a nap at his normal time. I tried to get him to take a nap, on and off, for hm... three hours today. Finally, I put him down at 2:40 with a promise that I was not going to go pick him up for at least an hour, even if he cried the whole time. Well, once I put him down, he was quiet for about ten minutes, then cried for fifteen. Then he was out like a light. I fell asleep myself, but then was woken up by the delivery of the new washer. I'm still a little blurry eyed, but I doubt I'll be able to get much more sleep. I think I'll just take it easy instead.
Tomorrow, Galya is watching Will for the first time. It's only for a few hours (10-1). I'm trying to decide if I should just stay for part of the time and show her what I normally do, then leave for an hour and a half or something like that. I just want everyone to feel comfortable. It's a tough time of the day for Will -- usually including lunch and nap time. But since his nap was so late today, I guess we'll have to play it by ear tomorrow.
