There have been some blood flow issues through the placenta and umbilical cord for a few weeks now... they were watching it closely, and on Monday it seemed to take a turn from "iffy" to "bad", so they kept me in the hospital overnight. On Tuesday they repeated the ultrasound saying if things looked the same or worse, then they were going to induce. It looked the same on Tuesday, but the high risk OB wanted to be absolutely certain so on Wed. I went to his office for a third ultrasound just to be sure. The blood flow was starting to reverse and what was supposed to be returned to the baby was instead being returned to me. He said if it got any worse then the baby could die within 24 hours. He talked with my OB again and they made the decision to induce on Wed. night

wow.. I think you were the one that responded to my post not too long ago when I had mentioned that Katherine had an umbilical cord condition - or am I mistaken? Anyhow, I'm glad to hear that you both are doing alright!! Thank goodness they got him out and monitored you so closely!
Thanks... he is really tiny. He actually looks bigger in pictures. I wasn't able to see him until around 5 yesterday (so almost 16 hours later), and my fiance was running back and forth taking pictures to show me. I was so surprised by how tiny he was when I first saw him in person.
Wow! I became 33 weeks yesterday! My mom gave birth to my brother when she was only 28 weeks, so I've been super freaked out that I'll give birth any day. I'm glad to know that you and your new one are doing well! Congrats again!
He's actually tiny for his gestational age. The neonatologist even commented on it... I had pregnancy induced hypertension (which caused the blood flow issues), and a lot of times that makes babies grow less.
