I would be 34 weeks today.

(This is all copied and pasted from another comment)

There have been some blood flow issues through the placenta and umbilical cord for a few weeks now... they were watching it closely, and on Monday it seemed to take a turn from "iffy" to "bad", so they kept me in the hospital overnight. On Tuesday they repeated the ultrasound saying if things looked the same or worse, then they were going to induce. It looked the same on Tuesday, but the high risk OB wanted to be absolutely certain so on Wed. I went to his office for a third ultrasound just to be sure. The blood flow was starting to reverse and what was supposed to be returned to the baby was instead being returned to me. He said if it got any worse then the baby could die within 24 hours. He talked with my OB again and they made the decision to induce on Wed. night.

So we went straight to the hospital and they started Cervidil around 9PM (the plan was to start the Pitocin around 7 the next morning). At 11PM I started having super mild contractions. So mild that I couldn't feel them, they just showed up as little blips on the monitor. However, each time I had one his heart rate would drop super low. And each time his heart rate dropped it would take longer and longer to come back up again.

Within a minute the room was full of nurses who were giving me stuff to make the contractions stop, giving me oxygen, increasing the fluid in my IV and having me turn on each side to try and get the blood flow to the baby up. The doctor was called and we were in the OR by midnight and I was getting an epidural, which ended up not being placed high enough. So they briefly discussed moving it, but decided they didn't have the time (the first one took quite a while to do), so they knocked me out and baby was out in no time.

wow.. I think you were the one that responded to my post not too long ago when I had mentioned that Katherine had an umbilical cord condition - or am I mistaken? Anyhow, I'm glad to hear that you both are doing alright!! Thank goodness they got him out and monitored you so closely!
