I've borrowed the hubby's new MacBook, and for some unknown reason you have to press ctrl-shift-j in order to switch into Japanese, and ctrl-shift-a to switch back to English. This is frustrating because a) on my iBook you just have to hit command-space to switch between Japanese and English and b) I keep trying to hit the ctrl, shift and a keys ( Read more... )

Finally tried out the new DVDs, and I'm slightly put-out because I can't get the subtitles to work right. It comes with two sets of subtitles, both Japanese, but one is a set of subtitles for the English, and one is the closed-captioning for the Japanese dub. (get the difference? Perhaps not surprisingly, when Queen Victoria speaks Japanese, she uses de aru form (and uses ware in the first person and sonata and nanji in the second person.) Perhaps more surprisingly, they managed to keep the accent jokes.
