Comics squee and comics whining
I want to start by squeeing about the true and abiding love I have for this month's Brave and the Bold. Seriously, people, I'm sure there are things that would make me happier than Bruce and Jay being all smart and working together and such, but I'm momentarily unable to think what they would be. Because I am blinded by the wonderfulness of Bruce and Jay teaming up :)
::bounces up and down:: This was what I want out of comics, I tell you! There was science and snark and action and smart people and I was a happy person. ::happy sigh:: More like this, please?
I'm also really continuing to enjoy Checkmate and the latest issue was an interesting setup for the new storyline. Flash is fun and I'm starting to enjoy Batman and the Outsiders (finally).
And then there's Robin. I...should be happy. I know some folks are thrilled by Steph's return and I...I want to be. I really really really want to be thrilled. I want to bounce up and down and squeal and all that.
But I just keep imagining the top-level maroons at DC sitting around a table and snickering about how this'll fix those uppity women complaining about their comics.
I mean, I'm glad Steph is back, believe me. I didn't want her dead and I hope to see her kicking butt and taking names for years to come. But this would have been a hell of a lot more effective if it had happened a month or two later. At this late remove, it just looks like a bunch of middle-aged white guys covering their ass.
Speaking of asses...WTF is up with Batman's "gee, I kinda thought she was alive all along but I couldn't be bothered to tell you" bull? I would have been less offended if Batman had been shocked too.
And now Batman's all happy to have her back? Uh...he's the reason she almost died, right? And she's the reason there was a gigantic fucking gang war? That, y'know, got Tim's new almost-girlfriend killed? Anybody remember any of that? Anybody? Bueller?
I'm really hoping that in subsequent months I can get a grip and just enjoy having Steph back.
On the bright side, even though there wasn't a new issue waiting for me, Blue Beetle is still love and you should still be buying it ;)
