We have this shelf at work in which advance reader/listener copies of books and cds are placed for the employees to take home for free. Usually the stuff there is either pretty crappy anyways, or the morning crew has picked over all the good stuff. But today I found a double disk set of something by a guy called Denison Whitmer--which only sounded familiar because i swear somebody I knew had been raving about it--and a half serious nostalgic memoir a by a 34 yr old guy who went back to be a counselor at his old summer camp the summer before his wedding. I picked up the book over my lunch break and decided to take it home not only because it had me laughing out loud, but also because it brought back fond memories of the five summers that I spend at Camp Wyomoco--the 4-H Camp for Wyoming and Monroe Counties. Damn, those were some of the best times--and I can still remember the layout of the camp and my old cabin and some of the good times as a CIT-III...But Denison Whitmer is somewhat of an unknown...anyone know if he's any good?
Oh, and believe it or not, as i'm standing in the Student Union at Buff State College typing, there is a game of "Drag Queen Bingo" being called by an honest-to-goodness drag queen. Color me amused. =)
