So, the background is this: I'm part of a death pool, as morbid as it may seem. I get news alerts when people die so that I can keep track of who's ahead in points (I don't know how I got nominated to be scorekeeper, but I did). And it's starting to make me hate humanity because every time there's a news report about someone dying, I get an email alert - even if they're not famous.
I get to skim over the news about U.S. military casualties in Iraq (up to 4,000), baby killing, car wrecks and random freak occurrences that cause people to die of vertebral artery dissection due to indirect neck trauma. I find some of these articles interesting, some sad, some stupid and some poorly written to the point where I want to beat the author with a dictionary. It's hard to see this part of humanity in an aggregate form. Death is a normal part of life, I know, but so much unnecessary bloodshed is caused by the stupid, pointless cruelty and idiocy of humans.
