I'm feeling infinitely saner now that this weekend's over. Today was a productive one filled with errands. Yay for being pro-active!
I feel like I ought to write something about the economic crisis as I'm sure it's going to be affecting us all in the coming months. First, IMHO a bail-out that focuses on keeping Big Companies from going bankrupt is not the way to go (trickle-down economics isn't completely off the mark in this case because the bail out really should help reduce the extent of job loss, but I'm not convinced that it's the best way to do so). As
eumelia pointed out in a personal-therefore-thought-provoking way, it's likely to lead to inflation which will in turn harm the working class and small business owners. But I don't really know about economics to back up much of that argument, which is why I haven't said anything yet. I'll just leave you with a link:
according to a recent poll, economists think that Obama would be better as president than McCain, and they approve of his plan for dealing with the economic crisis more than they do McCain's. Incidentally, one of the errands I did today was to finally print my absentee ballot request form. On a related note, this is just a reminder that
voter registration deadlines for most states are within the next couple days (in many cases tomorrow, the sixth), so if there's somehow someone reading this who lives in the States and isn't registered, you shoud go do so. Now. Or you won't be able to vote in November.
On another subject, I'm hoping that the fact that
Palestinian olive groves are now closed to Israelis means the settlers won't be able to harass the farmers...נראה.
