Drablets: Was I Even There and Math Sucks

Jan 17, 2009 23:10

Since I haven't been able to write anything but crap lately, I decided to do an old standby and write drabbles. Both of these are based on the song I was listening to at the time.

Was I Even There (Song by Trip Cyclone)
Kaito wonders what has happened, a year after.

Kaito looked over the edge of the building, watching as a brunette woman linked her arm with the blond next to her, laughing merrily as the pair walked, the fall leaves swirling around them. She looked up, her face shining in the sunlight as the blond bent down, gently kissing her lips.

Kaito closed his eyes, before jumping from the building, vanishing into the air, appearing next to a young mother and housewife who was dusting various picture frames, avoiding the closet that really needed to be dusted behind her.

Kaito approached the closet, pulling open the sliding shuttered, staring into his own eyes, a barely there tear sliding down his face as he watched his memorial, placed so carefully next to his father's. He heard a broken sob and turned, watching Aoko cradle his mother's form as both women sobbed.

Math Sucks (Song by Jimmy Buffett)
It really, really does.

"I just don't get it," Ayumi said, her pencil flying across the room as she raised her hands in frustration, before running them through her hands.

"You're not supposed to get it," Ai said dryly from her side, smirking slightly. "It's an un-solvable problem."

"Then why were we assigned it?" Genta asked, more focused on his plate of sushi then the homework in front of him.

"To prove we're idiots," Conan muttered, retriving Ayumi's pencil.

"To prove that not everything can be worked out," Ayumi offered, stealing a piece of sushi from Mitsuhiko as the boy continued plugging away at the problem.

Conan leaned over to see what Mitsuhiko was writing so feverishly before frowning, and glancing back at his page. "Ai, you said it was unsolvable, correct?"

She nodded. "It's a famous math problem," the sixteen year old said, poking at Genta when he reached for her sushi.

"Then why is his solved?" Conan said, pointing at Mitsuhiko.
