Whew, last nights full moon gathering was so ... enchanting, intoxicating, and relaxing, I had trouble tearing myself away. 11 people came, and brought friends of friends, and drums and, we were just a rag tag, groovy group of people. I really wasn't the one who thought it up, but since I was the one who suggested a good beach, I ended up being the pseudo-organizer (emailer, mapquester) and felt it was my duty to get there first. I went around 7:30 because I wanted to grab a swim before; and ended up swimming twice more. The surf was somewhat roughed up with Tropical Storm Fay down south, but it was balmy, breezy, and the silvery light played brightly on the water. I took my angel wing selenite; it fairly 'squee'd when it saw the big moon. One of the newcomers confessed to having a house sort of down beach near the lavender beach house, and said the magic words "I have a barbeque", so I have already elected him to next full moon thingee. Or anything. Anyone who lives that close to the beach needs to be inviting me over, lol.

There was one completely weird and unexpected thing, though. After my third swim I went to my car to get a dry shirt to put on, and as I stepped onto the concrete bike path to cross to the parking lot, *gasp* sweartagod, there were two! scorpions! walking! on! the! path! One going north, one going south (and sandy peeing in her suit). I've never seen a scorpion *anywhere* and I certainly didn't know they were in Florida ... of course half the men tried to talk me out of what I said I saw; the gals were like "go look up scorpion totem when you get home!" I googled it, the tail curled up top over the body just like in the pictures, and apparently they do live in Florida. Since this is kind of natural beach area, lots of critters around, anyway. I will definitely be more careful where I step in bare feet. Holy cow.

I got home around 1 and watched/slept Olympics till 2. I am still uber-relaxed today, very valiumized. Thinking about getting 'hurricane prepared' later today, which means, making sure my batteries are working. I don't know how I am going to get shifts working at UM this week if they cancel surgical cases for TS Fay, but .. it's just one of those surrender things, anyway. Not much I can do about it, except be flexible. *zzzz*

Oh yeah and I was going to make rice crispy treats for my friend's movie thing tomorrow night. If it still comes off. The last time I made rice crispie treats was decades ago, does it still make a huge marshamallow shellac mess of the kitchen?

Shopping list:
D batteries for hurricane tv. (back up batteries) They better effing show the Olympics on NBC and not interrupt it for storm alerts every 10 minutes. I'm gonna call them now. *getting aggravated in advance* In this case, Olympics trumps public safety, dammit. Just scroll the stuff at the bottom that we need to know. It's not our first rodeo ...

Rice cereal, some form of marshmallow shellac, choc chips. But if I make *this* recipe.. http://www.recipezaar.com/114373 then I need karo syrup and butterscotch chips, but I can lose the marshmallows *feels five lbs attach to the thighs just reading the recipe*

Bottled Water, Diet Pepsi, gatorade, tea

some canned food

batteries for my itty bitty book light

And of course, a full tank of gas in the car (have not filled it completely in months) and cash

Sigh, whatever. I'm feeling complacent, but I will do those simple things.

friends, lunar
