Yeah, so is that basement going to be permanently lit? There's never going to be any power outages, huh. No idiot to walk down and turn the lights off. It's just... very .... unspecific. But whatever.

I know that the angels left the light and moved to focusing solely on the TARDIS, but it was still flicking as they shook it back and forth. (Which was a really cool group of shots, I won't deny that.) And they didn't turn the lights off for good, it was still flickering, which implies that they couldn't just directly turn it off. But they could still have broken it. To me, that's kind of like searching for about an hour for a remote when you can just walk to the television and turn if off. It's that kind of lazy, screwed up logic.

I'm not saying I don't like Blink, I love it, it was... pretty awesome. But... it's just that... all this disappointment after all this hype has kind of made me sour on it. I'm willing to accept that it's a fantastic episode, but every time I say that, there's something in me that's going "What, yeah right."

Midnight... that was terrifying. It just... really got into your head. Humans can do awful things when they're frightened. I think that's what's so frightening about it. Monsters are supposed to ugly and snarly and scary. But humans, well, I'm a cynic, I can hardly say this is news, but it's sort of a cold dash of water to realise that those humans could be anyone. Including you.

But I was really getting terrified by Lesley Sharpe. I think it was really her acting that makes me love this episode, it's just so spot on, so perfect in timing and pitch and everything. It just made the whole unknown monster very real. And RTD used that lovely effect of 'the less you know, the more scary it is'. Mmm. Midnight was just so much better than Blink.

As much as I like the Moff, I'm getting sick of all this 'Moffat is God' stuff. It's just... no. He's not. If anything, I'm more of Paul Cornell fan. Because he writes such good, beautiful, emotional episodes. He even wrote the Eight audio Seasons of Fear which has a great scene where the Doctor tells Charley that for one split second, he actually wanted to kill the antagonist. It's a wonderful dialogue where the Doctor's completely terrified of the concept of actually wanting to kill someone.

But yeah. I don't know. Blink was good, but... disappointing. I just blame all the hype, seriously.
