The Gaslight Anthem were AMAZING!!!! Oh, man. As if I wasn't obsessed enough already... Seriously, people - listen to this band. If I had to describe what it means to be from New Jersey, I would just hand someone a copy of The '59 Sound. And, because Jason has cajones grandes, Justine finally got to meet Brian Fallon (lead vocals/guitar) and Alex Rosamilia (guitar)!
Brian Fallon and Justine! (Backstage at the Stone Pony)
This girl is the reason I found this band. She's so in love with them. And she had the chance to talk to them a couple days before last Thanksgiving in front of a Starbucks, but she chickened out! Seriously, she just walked right past them without saying anything, despite the fact she was listening to their album in the car and singing along before she got out. At least Jason forced her to go up to them this time. :)
So much singing, so much bouncing and dancing (including after the show to Outkast and the B52s by Kristina and I, which made passersby uncomfortable and I'm sure embarrassed the rest of our friends), and so much sweating! But all for the best cause. :D
The way home we sang classic Bruce Springsteen at the top of our lungs, and on the way to the diner, Kristina and I found first "Flagpole Sittah" and then "In the Air Tonight" on the radio, which made for awesome sing-along time. And thus ended what might have been the most Jersey night of my life. :D
Now I need to go to the third day of All Points West.
Oh, and they covered "American Girl", aka my favorite Tom Petty song EVER. Now I've seen The Gaslight Anthem and matchbox twenty cover that song live. :)
And a Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies out there!
