I ordered tickets (2) for Chris Cornell's show at the Beacon Theatre in New York on July 31st. Pretty decent seats - Orchestra, Row Q, Seats 10 & 11. I'm probably going to order tickets for the Starland Ballroom show, too, seeing as that's General Admission, it's about 30 minutes from my house, and I generally like the venue. But those don't go on sale until next week.
So, here's the cover for Harry Potter & the Deathly Hallows, UK edition (they usually prove more revealing than the American covers):
So, Harry, Ron, and Hermione are going to travel into some treasure trove. To nab a horcux, most likely. It looks like there's a sword being held aloft by a skeleton's hand, but it looks like it's coming out of Harry's back....
Anyway, I'm glad Ron and Hermione forced themselves into the fray. Harry being all noble and heroic by himself without Ron's jokes and Hermione's voice-of-reasoning would be annoying. Harry would get Avada Kedavra-ed pretty quickly without those two keeping him lose and giving him important information.
Wow. The series will be over in about 40 days.
Joanna said the other day she wants Orlando Bloom to be in one of the movies, but, thus far, there really isn't anyone who appears in the books (as opposed to just being talked about) he could play. But then I thought of someone. I'm sure I'm not the only one who suspects Regulus Black is still alive (possibly R.A.B., though not necessarily). But, even if he is dead, I have a feeling he's going to come into prominience in Deathly Hallows, even just if it's in flashbacks. Orlando Bloom looks enough like Gary Oldman that he could pass as his younger brother; plus, when he wants to, he can look a bit haughty.
You know, I think all the actors in the HP films have done a fine job, but, seeing as I'm on the topic, I would have changed some casting here and there (had I the power). All deference to JKR and her stipulation for only Brits in the movies, but there are some Americans who just fit so much better (and it worked in Lord of the Rings!):
~Albus Dumbledore (after Richard Harris passed away), Peter O'Toole - because it was Harris' dying wish to have his good friend take over the character! Plus, how amazing would he have been? I mean, he's Peter O'Toole, for God's sake.
~Gilderoy Lockhart, Hugh Grant - come on...dashing, great smile, totally full of himself, dumb as a brick. Totally Lockhart.
~Remus Lupin, Hugh Laurie - as with many of the actors in the films, he's a little old for the character, but he's got that tired, loner, wolfishness about him moreso than David Thewlis. For all his venom on House, I think he could play the gentle Lupin so well.
~Sirius Black, Johnny Depp - he just is Sirius for me. Period.
~Nymphadora Tonks, Reese Witherspoon - Heart-shaped face, bubbly, fun, and I could see her as being clumsy and absent-minded.
~Bellatrix Lestrange, Catherine Zeta Jones - though, I'm really excited for Helena Bonham Carter, I think CZJ has a haughtiness about her that makes her perfect for Bella.
~Rufus Scrimgeour, Kenneth Branagh - I think he would have been perfect, what with that "lion's mane" of yellow hair. Too bad he's already Gildroy. Incidentally, I love his portrayal in Chamber of Secrets, but he wouldn't have been the actor I thought of at all for that role.
~Cedric Diggory,
Henry Cavill - he's more innocent-looking (even though he's far from innocent in The Tudors!) than the kid they cast.
I'm sure there are other edits I would have made (like Umbridge, though, I'm not sure to whom - I just think Imelda Staunton is too lovely and sweet for such a bitch character), but most of the other main adult roles and pretty much all of the kids roles are very well cast.
By the way, did anyone else know that
Tonks was a Hufflepuff? I'm really starting to think that there really is no rhyme or reason for the Sorting, except that Slytherin = Evil. Because I would have thought Tonks would be first a Gryffindor or second a Ravenclaw. I swear, my house gets the short end of the stick; I mean, Luna's great, but Cho and Myrtle? We have no one heroic.
What else? We're currently having a (rather unsuccessful) yard sale. My house is probably the least ideal location for one - we're tucked away on the side of a hill. Ergo, people either can't or don't want to find how to get here.
Um, otherwise, I'm glad to have 3 days off. I worked 10 out of the past 11 days, and it messed with me a bit. I had a pretty bad dizzy spell yesterday at work (didn't faint, though, thankfully). My only explanation would be my headache from lack of caffeine, seeing as I'd eaten breakfast, had just gotten back from eating lunch, and had as decent a night's sleep as I can expect. Kinda scary, needless to say.
