It's Cornell Day!

Finally. 8 years after is first solo record (which is still in my top 5 ever), my man, Chris Cornell comes out with a follow up - Carry On. Once again, he's amazing, and he's surprised me with some really unexpected stylistic turns ("Safe and Sound" is distinctly Motown, for example). Half rock out, fast driving music, half soulful, melodic singer-songwriter-y tunes. And, of course - THAT VOICE. I don't know how the hell that instrument of his is still in such great condition, considering the force with which he sings, but damn. Just damn. ♥

Oh, and the video for the single "No Such Thing", which has nothing to with John Mayer, incidentally. ;) It's...weird. Violent. And it looks like the chick who played Christine in the movie version of Phantom of the Opera is in it (with a blonde wig), but yeah. Great song - seriously could have been a Soundgarden song. A lot of this album reminds me of late-Soundgarden, actually.

And now to listen to this record obsessively for the next month. Scotty P and I must see him live in July. MUST.
